Theo Matthai is excited to be joining Leavitt Women’s Healthcare as a Certified Nurse Midwife. Her passion for birth ignited while attending animal births during her undergraduate education in agriculture and animal science at Cornell University in upstate New York. Knowing she wanted to work with pregnant women and families, Theo practiced as a birth doula in both Boston and Baltimore before attending Johns Hopkins University for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She remained at Johns Hopkins to receive a Masters of Science in Public Health Nursing as well as a Post-Masters Certificate in Certified Nurse Midwifery in collaboration with Shenandoah University.
Theo is licensed and board-certified to provide full scope midwifery services: from prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care to routine gynecological, primary, and contraceptive health. With a public health nursing focus, Theo strives to get to know each of her patients beyond their immediate health needs in order to deliver dignified, individualized, and holistic care. It is particularly important to Theo to be able to provide hands-on physical and emotional support to birthing parents during their labor and delivery process so that they may feel safe and empowered during such a significant moment.
New to Idaho Falls, Theo is looking forward to joining the Leavitt Women’s Healthcare team and to connecting with the women and families of Idaho Falls and beyond.
